Club Trips 2024

These are the planned dates for 2024.

Trips with TBA as the destination are updated once a location has been determined.

Trips are given a recommended minimum experience level to help members decide the best trips to suit. If you are not sure, feel free to reach out to John.

Beginner – These trips will suit any level of ability and experience. The club will endeavor to match up less experienced anglers with more experienced ones so that everyone has a great day. Wading and walking will generally be fairly easy.

If this is your first trip and you need equipment please let John know when you book.

Intermediate – These trips suit anglers that know how to cast and have their own equipment. Generally these trips have reasonably easy access and plenty of space for casting. Some wading and walking is usually required.

Expert – These trips will suit anglers that can handle tricky casting situations or spooky fish. They may involve difficult wading or river access.

Attending trips is at your own risk and you should prepare accordingly. Use the resources on our Looking after Yourself while Fishing page

* Only club members may attend a trip.

Club nights

Club nights are held on the second Monday of the month (excluding January) at the Melville Cricket Pavilion, 18 Saint Andrews Road, Epsom, Auckland at 7pm.

Come along and meet like-minded anglers and friendly folk. The Monday evening meets starts with a sausage sizzle, and a glass of wine or beer can be shared.  This is a great opportunity to meet your fellow anglers, and you can catch up on club news and forthcoming trips.
The evenings main event is usually a specialist of some sort, speaking on a wide range of associated topics. These talks are always interesting, engaging and inspiring – whether whetting an appetite for new water and techniques, or stoking a desire for the latest bit of kit. During daylight-saving periods we will be giving casting tuition, as well as the opportunity to try out various rods, lines and techniques.
No experience is necessary to join the club. We can help get you casting, tying flies, and catching – there are many aspects of fly-angling to enjoy. Don’t be shy, we all started somewhere, and AFAC membership will help you improve faster.
